It weighs, stores, processes: the new noax IPC weighing terminal
noax Technologies AG's new weighing terminal combines the precision of electronic scales with the capabilities of a robust industrial PC. Using a specially developed weighing controller, the weighing terminal (or terminal) can process weighing results immediately and transmit them to central systems within the company. The calibratable scales software with built-in alibi storage enables all weighings to be traced seamlessly. That makes noax the ideal solution for weighing, storing and processing data measurements using a single device.
Is the delivery correct? What is the permissible tolerance between individual components of a recipe? How much merchandise was packed? Determining weights is one of the core production and logistics tasks. This is one of the greatest potential cost saving areas. These data also have to be available to other business areas and therefore be processed frequently. noax Technologies AG has developed a weighing terminal to combine these two tasks - measuring weights and processing measurement results. The noax weighing terminal is a fully integrated system, combining the advantages of a robust noax industrial PC with the precision of electronic scales. The industrial PC is the linchpin when it comes to processing measurement data. Two analog weighing platforms or weighbridges can be connected to the weighing terminal. The scales can be connected either with a single range weighing machine with up to 10,000 pieces or a multiple range or multiple division weighing machine with up to 2 x 3,000 pieces. The multi-range capable scales feature a number of measuring ranges (for example: A measuring range from 4 to 600 kg with 0.2 kg increments and an additional measuring range of 600 to 1500 kg at 0.5 kg increments). If the scales enter the next higher measuring range (in this case; measuring range up to 1500 kg, 0.5 kg increments), it remains in this higher range and does not revert to the next lower measuring range. The multiple division weighing machine has the same measuring ranges but automatically alternates between them within the measuring ranges. The weight is calculated using special software running on Windows Operating Systems. This transforms the noax IPC into a universal weighing terminal. The calibratable scales software with built-in alibi storage enables all weighings to be traced seamlessly over the network as well. All data can be integrated with an application program using an easy to connect 32bit Windows Software OLE (Object Linking and Embedding) interface. This allows the scales to be controlled directly from the application program. Both a calibratable and non calibratable version of the noax weighing terminal are offered, depending on what the customer wants and the application area.
Ease of use considerably improved
The calibratable version features special alibi storage, that can be called on the display using the scales display software icons. This storage device enables all weighing data to be traced. Alibi storage can be filed and read out over the network. The current weighing result appears clearly visible on the screen. The high contrast touch screen guarantees good readability even in adverse conditions. The high resolution TFT touch display offers the user greater convenience because all the inputs are entered via the screen. The tare as well can be adjusted by clicking on the touch screen so that the net weight alone appears on the display.
The touch screen features a very robust, toughened plastic surface, which means it can be used even under extreme conditions. The display can even be operated when wearing mail gauntlets, as is typical for example in meat processing businesses.
Robust for the toughest conditions
Its robust and compact design protects the noax weighing terminal against extreme mechanical and chemical stresses, for example vibration, shock, acids or alkaline solutions. noax offers the C15 weighing terminal from the compact series, the P15 from the panel series as well as the S12, S15 and S19 from the steel series. The steel series devices are suitable for uses requiring particularly stringent hygiene standards. Their cases are made of smooth, polished high-grade steel. Because of their fully enclosed design without any ventilation slits or external fan, the steel IPCs are completely protected against spray, thus achieving protection classes up to IP67 (NEMA 6). This means that the weighing terminal can be cleaned several times a day using corrosive disinfectants if the environment dictates. The noax compact series in its impact resistant aluminum housing can be used for almost any application, especially in production and logistics. The noax panel series is specially designed for use in switch cabinets.
Greater performance from both hardware and service
Despite their compact and fully enclosed design, all noax IPCs offer a wide array of services: The micro controller fitted as standard automatically performs numerous, individually scalable monitoring functions, for example counting operating hours, monitoring temperatures or controlling backlighting. All noax IPCs come equipped with a proprietary motherboard. They feature Intel Pentium processors, numerous on-board interfaces as well as a 10/100/1000 MB Ethernet interface. The IPCs can also be upgraded at any time using vacant standard slots. This enables peripheral devices, such as printers or barcode scanners for example, to be connected quickly and easily. noax provides a two year warranty on all devices and five years of active support. That means that noax stocks the original spare parts for five years, enabling it to recreate the original configuration. For customers this means that their investment is secure.
