Problems with ISA/PCI PCMCIA or bus board adapters

Installed Operating System:

Windows 2000 with Service Pack 2 / 3

Problem:

PCMCIA or bus boards do not work or only work partially, or do not work any longer after update from Windows 2000 SP2 to SP3.

Problem:

Windows cannot correctly execute interrupt allocation for the PCMCIA module or bus board which is inserted into the used slot.

Solution:

Depending on the adapter card type (ISA or PCI), one registry key is to be changed as follows:

    • Start Windows Regedit

    • Call up following path:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\Pcmcia\Parameters

Generate new DWORT value " DisableIsaToPciRouting " containing the following values:

" 0 " for PCI adapter cards

" 1 " for ISA adapter cards.

After rebooting, the inserted PCMCIA and CardBus cards will work again.

This modification enables Windows 2000 to correctly allocate the interrupt claimed by the inserted PCMCIA/bus board .

Attention: It is possible that after new installation of a service pack or an upgrade from SP2 to SP3, the above registry key is deleted again which means that the PCMCIA card will no longer work!
