The Touchscreen does not react
Error:
The Input LED displays entries at the touch but the cursor
does not react.
Possible Causes:
-
BIOS settings regarding onboard interfaces have changed (
buffer battery empty?)
-
Configuration of interfaces in operating system is flawed
-
The touchscreen driver ist set up incorrectly
Correction:
1. BIOS:
noax IPCs use either one (serie P4/P5) or two (serie P6) of
the four onboard interfaces for internal purposes.
The touchscreen communicates with the IPC via the interface
referred to as COM4 in BIOS.
The serial interfaces should be set up as follows in BIOS:
-
COM1: Address
3F8
/ Interrupt
4
-
COM2: Address
2F8
/ Interrupt
3
-
COM3: Address
3E8
/ Interrupt
11
-
COM4: Address
2E8
/ Interrupt
10
If the CMOS clock was also reset, this is likely caused by a
faulty clock battery. In this case, please apply to the
noax Service Department.
2. Operating System
The settings of
all
Com Ports in the operating system
should correspond to the settings in BIOS.
Please remember that if COM ports in BIOS have been set to
"disabled", the numbering in the operating system may
shift as the "missing" ports are "filled" with the nearest
higher ones. If for example COM2 is disabled in BIOS, under
some circumstande, e.g. under Windows 2000, the BIOS-COM3
may shift to COM2 and the BIOS-COM4 to COM3 !!
In this case, an allocation is only possible through a
comparison of assigned resources.
The touchscreen driver communicates with the hardware via
(BIOS-)COM4 with
9600 baud (bps)
,
8
data bits,
1
stop bit and
no
parity (8,n,1).
The protocol for transmission with the touch controller is
SC3 - serial
.
Note:
Starting with touch driver V. 3.05.18, these values can be
subsequently altered in the driver configuration, too. If
an earlier version of the driver with flawed values was
installed which does not work due to this, the installation
has to be repeated, and during this process the correct
values for protocol and COM port according to the enclosed
documentation have to be entered.
